    Magoffin Home

    Magoffin Home dates back to 1875, and is the only historical house in El Paso. This adobe home has 19 rooms and is built in the Territorial style which emerged in Southwestern American during the 19th century. It sits on 1.5 acres (0.6 ha) of land.

    The Hudspeth County Courthouse was built in 1919 and is the only adobe courthouse in Texas. It is still used today.

    Big Bend National Park

    Big Bend National Park encompasses more than 801,000 acres (324,000 ha) of land in the very western tip of Texas. The park is 35 mi (56 km) from Terlingua, running along the Rio Grande and the Mexican border. There are lots of things to do and see, including camping, hiking, birdwatching, boating, visiting the historical towns Castolon and Rio Grande Village, and soaking in the hot springs.

    Ysleta Mission
    This mission was built in 1744, and remained intact until a fire in 1907. It has since been reconstructed and is now a recognized historical building. The mission is south of El Paso on 131 Zaragosa Rd.

    San Elizario Chapel
    The San Elizario Chapel is one of the stops on the El Paso Mission Trail. This church was re-built around 1830 after being swept away by a flood. The restoration of San Elizario's church began in the early 1990s, and today it stands close to its original state.

    This three-story court house was built in 1886, and is still in use today. Public viewing is available.

    Pyote Museum and Rattlesnake Bomber Base

    Pyote Museum was once used by the University of Texas to train bomber pilots. Today it holds artifacts, photographs and other exhibits about World War II and civilian life from earlier last century.

    Medallion House
    The Medallion Home is Kermit's oldest home. This historical building is decorated with pieces from the turn of the 19th century. Viewing hours are Monday to Friday from 9am to 4pm and Sundays from 3pm to 5pm.

    Fort Davis National Historic Site

    The Fort Davis National Historic Site is one of the best preserved forts from the 19th Century. A former military post from 1854 to 1891, it sits on 474 acres (192 ha) of land, and holds fully and partially restored buildings. There are hiking trails and interpretive sites located on the premises.

    The Mission Trail

    The Mission Trail is one of the oldest trails in the USA. The trail is 400 years old. There are three missions along the way, one of which is Texas' oldest building. The trail connects the churches of Ysleta, Socorro and San Elizario together.

    Socorro Mission
    The Socorro Mission is part of the Mission Trail. The mission was founded in 1682 as a Franciscan ministry, but the first structure was washed away during a flood in 1829. The church was reconstructed in 1843, and has slowly been renovated since the early 1980s.

    Castolon Historic District

    All that remains of this once thriving town is the old store, located in Texas's Big Bend National Park. This building is one of the most visited sites in this area.

    Seminole Canyon State Park & Historic Site

    Seminole Canyon State Park & Historic Site is located in Val Verde County, just west of Comstock. Hiking, camping, mountain biking and historical study are among the activities offered at the park. Visitors have the chance to take guided tours that showcase American Indian rock paintings.

    The Rig Theater is one of the few surviving Texas theaters. It dates back to the 1920s when Wink was booming. It is recognized by the National Register of Historic Places.

    Judge Roy Bean Visitor's Center
    Judge Roy Bean was a well known and eccentric man who was the law in Pecos and Langtry at the end of the 19th century. Today Langtry holds the preserved saloon where Bean would try his cases. The center is open daily, except for major holidays.

    Marfa Lights View Park

    The mystery behind the Marfa lights have yet to be explained. Regardless, people still come to Marfa to view these "night orbs." Marfa Lights View Park has an obsevation deck and shelter for people curious about this phenomenon.

    Million Barrel Museum

    The Million Barrel Museum combines an old Shell Oil Company tank and a historic home know as the Holman House. The tank was built by the Shell Oil Company in 1928 to hold barrels during the oil boom. The house was originally a hotel and has been refurnished and redecorated to reflect the turn of the 19th century. Many items collected from early oil drilling, farming and everyday living have been collected and displayed at the museum.

    Marfa Presidio County Museum
    The Marfa Presidio County Museum is found in Marfa's historic Humphries House. There are many artifacts and photographs to teach visitors about the local history. The museum is open year-round Monday to Saturday from 2pm to 5pm.

    Chihuahuan Desert Research Institute and Visitor Center

    The goal of the Chihuahuan Desert Research Institute and Visitor Center is to get people to be aware of and learn to appreciate this unique area. Hiking tours are offered. There is an arboretum and a greenhouse containing more than 200 species of cacti at the institute. A gift shop is available in the visitor's center.

    Historic Fort Stockton

    Historic Fort Stockton started off as Camp Stockton in 1858, turning into a military fort in 1867. Today visitors can see this building along with other military structures.
